Antaresia childreni

The Children's python group (genus Antaresia) offers a good choice for a 'first snake' for the family as it comprises a number of similar sized animals (to around 1m) that feed well, are easy to handle, and are fairly inexpensive to purchase and maintain. The Children's python A. childreni can be variable in colour and pattern and Snake Ranch is breeding animals that are both boldly patterned or have no pattern at all as adults. They can be fussy feeders as hatchlings so it is important to ensure that it is feeding well on young rodents before parting with the hard earned.

By the time a Children's python has reached the adult stage it is generally docile, friendly and very relaxed around people. These snakes can be very personable and great company.
